framework
This proposed joint degree has been approved by the boards of the three HEIs that will be awarding the degree. The next step, submission of the joint degree to each country’s respective quality agency, will be carried through in due course, according to new national regulations that will have to be updated to be able to award the joint degree (the first diplomas will be issued in academic year 2013-2014). All these regulations are presently under review in Europe for updating to ESHE arrangements. The Spanish Government has announced approval of the regulations for international joint doctorates by year-end 2009, while the Dutch and Swedish Governments will do likewise in 2010. The doctorate programmes already on stream at the three HEIs that award the degree are accredited and officially recognised in the respective countries. Fees
Tuition amounts to €7 200 per student per year, regardless of student origin (EU or otherwise) and approved pathway. This amount must be paid to the coordinating institution upon registration in the SETS programme. Tuition fees will be deducted from the funds accruing to students on an Erasmus Mundus Fellowship.
